Breese's bits & bytes

We hit the ground running on August 1st, and haven't looked back!  Our staff confronted many changes as they returned from their summer education and vacation adventures.  These included;
  • new gradebook software,
  • recently changed student management system,
  • recently upgraded phone system,
  • new curriculum in reading (ELA),
  • new standards for social emotional learning,
  • a new report card, and just the challenges of starting a new year!
You also did a great job adjusting to our new drop-off and pick up patterns for picking your students up from school.

Over the summer we also had new floors installed as old asbestos tiles were removed. We are thankful to you for your patience as we continue to transition into the future!

Speaking of the future we also started working toward an ambitious goal.  Westmeade will be the first sustainability magnet in TN.

The time is now.  With the moving of Hillwood High School to its new location in Bellevue it is time to continue our march toward a sustainability curriculum and being a zero footprint school building.

Since I have been Principal we have consistently moved toward a curriculum that is driven by a dedication to nature and sustainable practice. .

Sept. 8th kicked off our Otis Spunkmeyer cookie sales.
This is one of our major fund makers each year.  What a delicious way to earn money for the schools.  Please be sure that you pick up your cookie dough and kudos to the many mom's who help make this happen smoothly.

Many ways to help your students keep up!

Scary Story Day - October 31st!

Students at Westmeade will again be treated to scary stories brought to you by the library.  These are traditional mostly southern stories which have been handed down over generations.  Some came through the slave traditions, while others are from Northern European sources.

There are many great Halloween tales to share and students can check them out.  Here is a link to a list of some of these stories.
