Westmeade & the WWF Waste Audit
Westmeade is participating in WWF Food Audit. Two years ago we participated in a food audit which resulted in the students asking what they could do with the perfectly good food that was going to waste. Because they wanted to do something to help their world, They began collecting their uneaten food and taking it to the only place large enough to accept it, the Nashville Rescue Mission.
It didn't hurt that we had a parent who worked there. We diverted 4,000 lobs of fruit, packaged sandwiches, milk, juice, yogurt, and other sealed foods to the Mision.
This year we hope to be able to begin composting the rest of the student food waste. To understand more about composting here are two links for kids
