Westmeade's Waste Audits
Westmeade participated in a WWF Food Audit this spring.. Two years ago our participation in a food audit resulted in the students asking what they could do with the perfectly good food that was going to waste. Because they wanted to do something to help their world, They began collecting their uneaten food and we began taking it to the Nashville Rescue Mission.
We diverted 4,000 lbs. of fruit, packaged sandwiches, milk, juice, yogurt, and other sealed foods to the Mission.
This year we hope to be able to begin composting the rest of the student food waste. To understand more about composting here is a video to help you get started. andPipa Pig an Compost Buddies are links for kids.
