Volunteer Opportunities for Kids
The best opporunities for kids to volunteer usually occur through a church, synagogue, or mosque where they do things as a group.
Seeing parents volunteer and going along to help are great ways to help kids become volunteer oriented. Here are some possibilities.
- Take student and select a part of the road that they can pick up trash along.
- Sign up and volunteer in our school garden ( click on the link and choose a week this summer to water, weed, and harvest)
- Let students help collect things that the homeless or those in shelters might use and participate in delivering it to the shelter.
- Check at the Public Library -- they sometimes have opportunities for kids.
- Have an elderly neighbor? Volunteer to do yard clean-up for them and have your student help! There are many more ideas! You let me know what they are... email me at karen.mcintyre@mnps.org

Join the summer reading clubs at the public library and go at least once a week for activities, stories, programs, puppet shows, fun, and of course BOOKS!
Activities at Metro Parks Recreation Centers are completely free! The four regional centers have indoor pools, and there are two more with outdoor pools. Some centers have state-of-the-art fitness centers! Check them out -- they are a blessing!
