Nursery Rhymes are an important foundation for reading. Click and print out and color rhymes and learn about why they are so valuable to new readers! Click here to see the word families in Nursery rhymes. This site also has music for each rhyme!

Beginning

Letter Recognition Learn to recognize matching upper and lower case letters!

Magic Key - Seeing patterns in poems and rhymes

Reading along with a story and learning to follow directions is a great learning activity for beginners. These stories are from the BBC so it is a good time to talk about cultural differences. Try these as well. Animal Stories, Fairy Stories, World Stories, Paint and Color Stories. Create a story here.

Aesop's Fables created by John R. Long, contains an alphabetically arranged collection of over 654 online fables for grades 4-12.  Teaching Tolerance helps us talk with our children about global violence and issues of hatred here at home. Teaching Tolerance, helps us understand many points of view. On a world-wide scale tolerance is difficult to come by. The two sites below focus on the Palestineian and Arab disputes and what some creative people in those two countries are doing to bring about understanding and peace.

An American summer camp brings Israeli and Palestinian youth to the States and offers some hope, as does a joint settlement of Israelis and Arabs at Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam.
